According to reports, the movie is based on a true story. The film is a tribute to the 1976 Telugu film Bhakta Kannappa and follows the life of a Shiva devotee named Kannappa. Additionally, Kannappa marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood producer and director Mukesh Kumar Singh.
The first glimpse of Mohanlal's role in the popular Telugu movie Kannappa which stars Vishnu Manchu has been released on 16 December 2024. In the movie, Mohanlal will play the character "Kirata" in a cameo. According to the poster and its text, the mythological figure Kirata, the lord of the Pashupatastra, served as the inspiration for Mohanlal's portrayal. It says, "Master of the Pashupatastra! The Victor over the victorious, The Legendary Kirata of the Forest".
The producer and director Mukesh Kumar Singh from Bollywood made his Telugu film debut with Kannappa. The movie, which centers on Kannappa, a devotee of Shiva, is allegedly based on a real-life event. The movie which was produced on a massive budget, has already been teased. Additionally, there are rumors that the movie is being made as a tribute to Bhakta Kannappa, a Telugu film from 1976. R Vijayakumar is the Executive Producer of Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa.
The teaser for Vishnu Manchu's Pan-Indian film "Kannappa" was made public on 14 June 2024. The movie's teaser launch party was a lavish affair.
"Kannappa will be a new experience for every generation," stated producer Mohan Babu. This movie is more than just a devotional. The movie has a lot of different elements. India has some outstanding actors. Love and prayers from everyone should be present.
