An international venue for Malayali film productions from outside the country
IMFFA under the direction of Joy K Mathew
The International Malayalam Film Festival of Australia (IMFFA) seeks to present short and feature films by Malayalam artists residing outside of Kerala in Malayalam film festivals across the country; to offer all facilities required for Malayalis residing outside of Kerala to film if they travel to Australia for the purpose of filming; and to provide a platform for newcomers and expatriate artists in Kerala to screen low-budget family films in Australian film festivals. For further details and send pictures email to ausmalfilmindustry@gmail.com before July 30, 2024.
According to IMFFA Founder and Festival Director Joy K Mathew, "The inaugural festival will feature Malayalam short and feature films shot in Australia by March 31, 2024. Only the best film will be awarded in the first few years. The winners will be selected by a jury consisting of well-known Malayalam film industry members. The best film will be awarded to the director or producer. IMFFA will provide the specially designed sculpture, air tickets to the festival venue, and food and accommodation facilities".
The IMFFA logo was unveiled by Shahul Hameed, a well-known producer in the Malayalam film industry and the proprietor of Marikar Films. The event was held on the Gold Coast and was particularly organized. Joy K Mathew was the event coordinator. Indu, Majeesh, Vipin, Rijo, Asha, Sharan, and Marshal Joseph were also present at the event.
