Ilaiyaraaja, the biopic movie is directed by Arun Matheswaran after Captain Miller. The film Ilaiyaraaja features Dhanush as the titular character. The movie Ilaiyaraaja is produced by Sriram Bakthisaran, CK Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Ilamparithy Gajendran, and Saurabh Mishra under the banner of Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production and Mercuri Movies.

After a long wait by the fans, the official launch of music director Ilaiyaraaja's biopic 'Ilaiyaraaja' took place in Chennai on 20 March 2024. The poster was unveiled by Kamal Haasan. Dhanush can be seen in the role of Ilaiyaraaja in the poster. Along with Ilaiyaraaja, directors Vetrimaaran and Thiagarajan Kumararaja along with prominent people from the film industry participated in the launching event.

Dhanush's words at the ceremony are as follows "This moment is becoming perfect for me. Melody songs of Ilaiyaraaja sir have been my favorite since childhood. Ilaiyaraaja Sir will always be my guiding light. I consider it my greatest fortune to be able to portray him in the film. I express my gratitude to Kamal Haasan sir who came to the function.

Kamal Haasan talked about the song "Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan" in the movie Gunaa. He talked about love and emotions in the song he did together with Ilaiyaraaja. Kamal Haasan wished Dhanush all the best.
