L2 Empuraan is a Malayalam movie directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran the sequel of blockbuster Lucifer. Features Mohanlal in Empuraan as the lead character. Lucifer actors Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Shashi Kapoor, Indrajith Sukumaran, Baiju Santhosh, Saniya Iyappan, etc. also have a strong presence in the film. The film stars many foreign stars and prominent actors from different Indian languages. The big-budget movie Empuraan was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and India's major production house Lyca Productions of Subaskaran. The screenplay of the second part of Lucifer is also written by Murali Gopy.

The executive producers of the movie are Suresh Balaje and George Pius. The chief associate director of L2E is Vava and the creative director is Nirmal Sahadev. The project Empuraan is designed by Prithviraj Productions. Suresh Balaje and George Pius are the executive producers and GKM Tamil Kumaran, Head of Lyca Productions.

Mohanlal played the role of Stephen Nedumpally in Lucifer scripted by Murali Gopy and helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. 2019 Lucifer ends with a hint of a sequel. The presentation of this film is on a huge budget. For more than four years, fans have been waiting to see Stephen Nedumpally again with a new look 'Khureshi-Ab'raam'.

The movie L2 Empuraan started on 5 October 2023 at Faridabad on the Delhi-Haryana border. For the pooja, Mohanlal had arrived in Delhi on the fourth. The first schedule is not being followed by Mohanlal. Mohanlal returned from Delhi to Kochi and finished dubbing for Barroz, afterward began work on the Telugu movie Vrushabha in Mysore. Vrushabha will wrapped by this schedule and thereafter begin acting in Empuraan.

The movie Empuraan is being filmed on several schedules and in various locations. Twenty international nations were used to film the movie. It contains significant locations in the UAE, the US, and Russia. Upon recovering from a leg injury sustained while filming Vilayath Budha, Prithviraj has resumed his professional activities. Around the break time, Prithvi was actively involved in the film's pre-production. From Prithviraj, the movie is being moved to Ladakh, Ladakh, and Darjeeling.

The music for the film 'Empuraan' is composed by Deepak Dev and MR Rajakrishnan is the sound designer. The lyrics are by Vinayak Sasikumar and Tanishk Nabar.

The 2nd instalment of the Lucifer franchise Empuraan will be released in theaters on March 27, 2025. Apart from Malayalam, Empuraan has been made in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. 8 states and 4 countries, including the UK, USA, and UAE, were traversed throughout the amazing 14-month shooting.
