Maheshum Maruthiyum Malayalam romantic comedy movie scripted and directed by renowned screenwriter Sethu. After a long hiatus, Asif Ali and Mamta Mohandas play the lead characters. Maniyan Pillai Raju plays the role of Padmanabhan, Mahesh's father, who plays an important role. The movie Maheshum Maruthiyum is produced by Maniyanpilla Raju under the banner of Maniyanpilla Raju Productions in association with VSL Film House. Vijay Babu, Prem Kumar, Vijay Nellis, who is notable through 'Super Saranya', and many newcomers are lined up. The chief associate director of the film Maheshum Maruthiyum is Vinod Somasundaran.

The movie tells the story of a triangular love affair. Mahesh, a very ordinary young man, falls in love with two people, a Maruthi car and a girl named Gauri. Mahesh's father Padmanabhan, who worked in Delhi in 1983, arrives in his hometown of Cheruthonithuruthu with a Maruti car, which can be described as Sundari. Throughout the movie, Mahesh's love affair with the car is brought about by his father. Along with the Maruthi car, Gauri also added color to his life. So two loves for Mahesh, One is Maruti and the other is Gauri, a triangle romance. This love transcends humorous moments and family backgrounds.

In 1983 Indira Gandhi introduced the Maruti car, in the movie the same 1983 model car is used in the same condition and look as it was released from the showroom. Sethu said that the Maruti company has helped a lot in renovating it. The movie reflects the context of Maruti and the cultural transformation that Maruti's growth has brought to Kerala.

Director Sethu's previous movie was Mammootty starring 'Oru Kuttanadan Blog'. Asif Ali and Mamta Mohandas are teaming up after a long time after Sathyan Anthikkad's 'Kadha Thudarunnu'.

The first look poster was unveiled by Prithviraj Sukumaran through his social media page.

The filming of the movie is set to begin on 5^th February 2022 in Mala, a small town in Thrissur.

Kedar has composed the music for the movie Maheshum Maruthiyum with the lyrics by Hari Narayanan.

Maheshum Maruthiyum movie was released in theaters worldwide on March 10^th of 2023. The film Maheshum Marutiyum was censored with a clean "U" certificate.

Synopsis

The film is about Mahesh and his one true love, his father's Maruti 800, as the title suggests. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi presented his father, Padmanabhan, with the specific 800 way back in 1983. Sethu's Maheshum Marutiyum tells the tale of that car and Mahesh and how it changes when his childhood sweetheart Gowri shows up to see him.
